The good news is that, in the yoga market, I’ve figured it out. I’m a yoga teacher just like you, and I’ve been using Facebook as my primary marketing channel since 2008 to fill classes my local yoga studios and to sell special events, destination retreats, workshops, teacher training courses, and yoga products.

While Facebook used to be as “social” as Twitter, today it’s more like a news blog with posts and comments—but with very few real conversations happening. To be successful, you have to adapt to this new ecosystem and ride the trend.
#3. Facebook loves people who build “sticky” communities on their platform, but they hate people who try to steal traffic off their site. Building community on Facebook can be a simple process, but you have to understand how to do it the right way.
#4. Facebook is not nearly as interested in your financial capital as they are in your “social capital.” This means it’s very difficult pay for exposure on Facebook unless you already have a post that has proven to be popular. As a yoga teacher on a budget, this is good news because it means you don’t need a huge marketing budget to get huge results—in fact with little (or even no) budget, you can do as well—or better—than the biggest of brands.
#5. This is not rocket science. I decrypted the Facebook system because my business and my livelihood depended on it. My first yoga studio was on a small island in Thailand, so I relied 100% on marketing for each and every person that came in the door.
